Because Music has been named Best Independent Label at the 2026 AIM Awards in London. The award is a proud moment for our artists and teams across Paris, London and Los Angeles, and for everyone who has helped shape Because Music over the past two decades.
Founded in Paris in 2004 by Emmanuel de Buretel, Because Music has grown into an international independent record label, working with artists including Justice, Christine and the Queens, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Metronomy, Major Lazer Parcels, Shygirl and Oklou to name but a few. Supporting distinctive voices and giving artists the freedom to develop their own vision remains central to our work. This latest recognition follows our previous label award at the AIM Awards in 2017.
The Association of Independent Music (AIM) is the not-for-profit organisation representing and supporting the UK’s independent music community, from established record labels to emerging businesses and self-releasing artists. Since 2011, its annual awards have celebrated the creativity, innovation and achievements of independent artists, labels and the people behind their releases. It is a particular honour to have our work recognised within this community.
The Best Independent Label category is supported by IDOL, an independent digital music distributor and artist and label services company. Its Labelcamp technology provides tools for managing music catalogues, releases, analytics and royalties.
Thank you to AIM for this recognition, to our artists for their trust in us, and to our teams around the world, partners and everyone who has been part of the journey.
